As a UCS graduate myself, it was a great opportunity to be part of the Autumn campaign to find more applications. UCS have always worked with the best local agencies and creatives to help with campaigns. In 2012 Condiment got their chance.
We wanted to challenge the tough journey all students make when first starting out. The biggest include choosing a direction along with the financial burden and possibly moving away from home for the first time.
The idea was to have abstract illustrations to show an average student battling these decisions. It would be an epic journey that would take ‘Martha’ up mountains of debt, through dragon infested castles and through time with friends.
One of the biggest challenges was the magazine style leaflet that would be sent to every candidate. We kept the cover simple by using nothing but black ink on eye-catching ribbed brown card, this gave a great contrast to the inner pages and made the print really unique.
All of the illustrations were created by the talented Mister Millerchip and were entirely in black and white. Martha looked pretty hardcore, sword and all plus the colouring sets a more serious tone.
This project was fun to be part of, working with such a talented illustrator was a great experience and produced a really unique University campaign.
